Victoria’s Secret was first launched in 1977 and reached its pinnacle of success when it began hosting the world’s largest lingerie show, the “Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.” These events were an exciting combination of fashion, lingerie, and music, creating explosive emotions among fashion enthusiasts, with their seductive and legendary imagery. However, in 2010, due to criticisms and scandals from customers, the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show was forced to halt for six years to undergo changes and address the controversies. Many customers argued that Victoria’s Secret focused solely on “angels” with slender, tall, thin figures and fair skin, neglecting other standards of beauty. Meanwhile, the fashion world had shifted toward new ideals of beauty, embracing diversity and moving away from rigid standards. Additionally, the biggest issue arose from accusations in the context of the #MeToo movement, which led to a near boycott of the Victoria’s Secret show and its withdrawal from the fashion scene for quite some time.
